Chicken Run Directed by Peter Lord and Nick Park Mel Gibson as Rocky ??? ??? as Ginger Rating: 3 out of 6 "So, how about dem eggs?" Many children-orientated movies are great. And unlike most movies where the adults talking make you want to punch them in the head, children talking are much more innocent and funny. ("Mummy, it's dark in here!") Initially, the animation seems slightly jerky. I am still unsure whether I simply became used to it, or if it became smoother as the movie continued. There is some terrific detail in the animation, such as camera pans and changes of focus, and it is fun to watch a group of chickens blinking their eyes detailed right down to the occasional double blink. The story is good (with bountiful Great Escape inspirations), but it doesnt break any rules. On top of that, it doesnt feel as confident as it should. However, any movie that can make you feel emotional for a crying chicken can't be half bad. Rocky and Ginger work on escaping the chicken farm with a wide range of hens (and rooster) behind them. Things To Look Out For: The scientist chicken is not talking gibberish - he's just easy not to listen to. The fatter rats tie and shirt is hilarious, and the Blues Brothers take-off is just fantastic. And speaking of take-offs, who would have thought that a movie about chickens could somehow fit in generous Star Trek references? The Low Point: The "holiday" chicken (you'll know what I mean when you see it) is not funny, witty or entertaining in any way at all. Just a badly written "dumb" part. It wears very thin very quickly.
Chopper Written by ?????? ?????? Directed by Andrew Dominik Rated R Rating: 4 out of 6 Eric Bana as Chopper Simon Lyndon as Jimmy Loughnan David Field as Keithy George Dan Wyllie as Bluey Review not complete. Things to look out for: This film is a dramatisation in which narrative liberties have been taken. It is not a biography. The low point: Some of the music in the nightclub, although it is probably what was being played at the time.
