The Dish is a well written story based on the Parkes Radio Telescope involvement in the Apollo 11 mission to the moon. It revolves around three people who work at the dish, and a consultant from NASA who works with them during the mission which is described as "sciences chance to be daring."

If you have any interest in space travel, then this movie is a must see - if only for all the fantastic NASA footage from that era of humankinds most recent exploration. Around all this footage is a well crafted story that is told with that unique Australian pace. The acting is good, the directing is very good, and the NASA footage is spliced with the movie in a self-assured and quiet way that feels suprisingly natural.

There is a nice range of characters, all with that overcooked Australian feel. Yet, it feels right and the movie is enjoyable - heightened with ample (but not decadent) observations of the dish and its workings.

Things to look out for: "Failure is never as frightening as regret."
The low point: Overcooked characters, but it is so Australian and they feel right.
